1. Tell me about the different ways that you used communication for 24 hours in your journal. Think about the different media that you used, and the purposes for which you used specific media. Were some media better suited to specific purposes? (For example, the media you chose to use for social interaction versus information gathering: Why did you make these choices?)
I communicated through msn messenger and my cell phone. The types of media I used were the internet, my ipod. The internet itself was used for both social and information purposes, but it is best suited for information gathering, a better means of social communication is the cell phone.

The internet was the most common communication medium. I think this was the most commonly use because; through the internet I can communicate through msn messenger, forums and through email.

To do research for school or to talk to people
4. What do you think you learned most about the role of communication media in your everyday life by keeping this journal? Please explain your answer.
Using media as a vehicle of communication has taught me that I am dependant on technology, I either need music in my ear or I am on my laptop chatting with people or using it for school related purposes.
5. What was the most surprising thing that you learned from keeping this journal? Why is this surprising? Please explain.
The most surprising thing that I have learned is that I am using the internet a lot. This is surprising because I did not realize that I was dependant on the internet for my school work or to communicate with people.
6. What are some of the positive implications about having communication media in your life? Name 2 or 3 possible implications, and explain them.
The internet allows me to do research from my home, saving me time from finding books and the library, and being at the library itself. Also the internet always me to communicate easily and cost efficiently around the world. Lastly the internet always to download free media such as music and movies.
7. What are some of the negative implications about having communication media in your life? Name 2 or 3 possible implications, and explain them.
Technology makes us lazy and reluctant to do physical activity. Also not everything on the web is true and sometimes we tend to believe what we read.
8. How do you think your life would be if you did not have access to communication media. Please talk about both the positive and the negative things that might happen.
If I did not have access to communication media I would be more willing to talk to people face to face , the negative side of this would be that to communicate without any means of media would mean that I would have to only talk to people that were near me.
9. If you had to choose one communication media to take on a desert island, which one would you choose and why?
I would choose a satellite phone, so that I could call for help and get off the island
